I love how the man on the right is looking at the viewer! I try to do this whenever possible in my people shots, with the theory being that we make a connection whenever someone makes eye contact with us. In a live encounter with a stranger, our glances can meet for only a half second at most, after which we must look away... so as not to appear rude. With a photo like this, we are free to study those who are looking at us for as long as we wish. Great photo! I love it, as with many others in your gallery! -- Greg
Italian men were not afraid to stare, that's for sure. This was definitely a drive-by shot, so I can't remember if this man was left glaring at me for taking his photo.
She looks defiant. She is holding onto that bag for dear life. We are talking Italy here. Bag snatching, pick pockets you name it, it's all there. Enjoy it all, you will get some great shots from one of the oldest cities around. The Romans , I found, are actually very nice people once they see you are a tourist. Despite some close encounters with it's nasty side, I really enjoyed my stay there many years ago. Nice shot.
Thanks. And that's probably true, though I haven't witnessed the dark side of Rome/Italy yet. I always keep a tight grip on my belongings, and I haven't lost anything yet (been here for a little over a week, have a few more weeks to go!)... A little nervous from all the horror stories I've been hearing, though.
